We have invited our neighbours to a candlelight (beeswax , of course ) wine and dessert get-together from 8:30-9:30pm on Saturday night to celebrate Earth Hour .

We have already petitioned our local municipal council to endorse Earth Hour and sign up on their web-site.
On a personal level we will be turning off our lights between 8:30 and 9:30, encouraging our neighbours to do the same while enjoying hot chocolate at our house.

In our rural household we are intending to do what we did last year for Earth Hour. (Does twice make it a "tradition"?) We will be turning off the main electrical switch to the house, lighting a fire in the airtight stove in the basement and then reading aloud -- by candlelight, of course -- a short story by a Canadian author that none of us have read yet. Last year we read Gabrielle Roy's,"The Move", which took us well past Earth Hour, as we were so absorbed in the story line!
