Would you like your children to know the stories in the bible and have the opportunity to explore their own ideas about the stories?
Through Godly Play, children become more aware of the mystery of God's presence around them and in their lives. Godly Play gently encourage children to move into larger dimensions of belief and faith, through wondering questions and open-ended response time. It is a way of preparing children to join in the worship and life of their congregations as they develop a deeper understanding of stories, symbols and rites of their faith.
Godly Play is a method of telling Bible stories using a Montessori approach to education developed by Dr. Jerome Berryman. Listeners are invited into the stories without interpretation or moral instruction. After the story, they are encouraged to connect the stories with personal experience through art, play, and drama.
Pilgrim United Church is offering Godly Play on Sunday mornings for children from 6y to 11y from September to June. Families will worship together during the first part of the service, then children will leave for their Godly Play time.
There's a new story each week, so there is no commitment to attend every Sunday.
Our Church School has a program for children that are younger than 6y, or older than 11y.
